Title
The Procuress, by van Bijlert (1660, c.)
Creator
van Bijlert, Jan (c. 1597-1671)
Date
1660, c.
Description
In the painting there is a young woman on the right, holding some coins, an old woman who acts as a procuress and a man on the left with a bag in his hand. The old woman is grabbing the man's hair, who appears screaming. The image seems to suggest that the procuress is forcing the man to pay more for the services received.
