Representation of La Celestina, by Leal Audirac (2000. c)
Watercolor and ink of characters in a style reminiscent of the illustrations of fantastic books from the early 20th century and with characters that seem taken from the comedy dell'arte. They do not correspond to any scene from La Celestina.

Punished procuress, from the map by Braun and Hogenberg, by Hoefnagel (1612, c.)
Image of a punished procuress in the map of the city of Seville found in the work by Braun and Hogenberg<span>, (</span><span>1612-1618</span><span>). </span><span><em>Civitates orbis terrarvm</em>. Coloniae Agrippinae: apud Petrum à Brachel, sumptibus auctorum. From the inscription on the page it is understood that the illustration is or is based on the illustration by George Hoefnagel (1593 in Frankfurt am Main) that he gave to D. Nicholas Maleparte.<br /><br />Description of the scene:<br />"This engraving of Seville offers a distant view of the city. Hoefnagel is more concerned, however, with the figures in the foreground, where a punishment scene is unfolding: a procuress or an adulteress, bared from the waist up, has been smeared with honey and is swarming with bees. The cuckold follows behind, wearing large antlers and a string of Bells. The procession is accompanied by magistrates. In the centre Hoefnagel and Maleparte watch the scene." La Celestina, by Hermida (1810)
Painting signed: “de Hermida” ("by Hermida"), from the Sevillian School, first third of the 19th century.
The painting represents an old woman with her head covered and a damaged eye, all in keeping with the celestinesque tradition. The description together with the name of the painting suggests that the old woman represents Celestina.

Elegant company, by anonymous (1770, c.)
Other titles: Elegant company playing backgammon in an interior, an amorous couple, and a monk and procuress with a young lady.
Painting in the manner after William Hogarth.
The image shows four figures, a man and three young women playing backgammon in an outdoor scene. The other title of the painting refers to a procuress, so it is possible that a celestial figure appears in the shadowy part of the painting.

Drawing of Celestina, by Almada (1930)
Image of Celestina with a child in her arms and a girl sitting next to her in the brothel she runs. The accompanying text clearly describes the old woman holding the child as Celestina:
"Sale Carmen y la Celestina con el niño en brazos. Carmen va a volver a abrazar a su hijo tendidos los brazos y llorando. La Celestina se lo quita."
("Carmen and Celestina come out with the child in her arms. Carmen is going to hug her son again, holding out his arms and crying. Celestina takes him away.")

Animated plot of La Celestina, by Collado (2002)
Figurines by designer Lorenzo Collado of the characters from La Celestina, including: Melibea, Calixto, Parmeno, Areusa, Lucrecia, Sempronio, Celestina, student and the author Fernando de Rojas. Celestina's character is reminiscent of a nun because of the habit and the rosary that she wears around her neck.

Celestinas in a 19th century comic magazine, by El Fandango (1891)
Various representations of Celestinas or celestinesque characters in the weekly magazine "El Fandango: Weekly dance dedicated to the beautiful male sex" (1891). We can see the figures that remind of Celestina as old women, with their heads covered following the Celestina tradition. Many of these figures appear either with a young prostitute or with a couple where the young man acts as a client, the young woman as a prostitute, and the old woman as a procuress.<br /><br />Text on the first image:<br />"He. - Lovely woman<br />of complete qualities<br />She must be a lady...<br />-She's worth five pesetas!<br />says the companion."

A little soup, by Álvarez (1885)
Original title: <em>Una sopita</em> ("A little soup").<br /><br />The engraving shows an interior scene where four figures appear: two young people sitting talking, an old man sitting next to them watching them while he eats, and a young woman leaving the room. The engraving appears in the middle of a story titled "From window to window" ("<span>De ventana a ventana</span>") in which a Celestina appears. In this engraving there is no Celestina character but there is an old religious man who, due to his permissiveness and attitude towards the young lovers, clearly reminds of a Celestina.

La Celestina, by Cantú (2012, c.)
The images show a young couple on a bed lying down and kissing while a woman in the center of the image with her head covered looks at the viewer while holding flowers. From the title of the paintings it is understood that the couple represent the client and the prostitute and the woman represents the young woman's procuress. There are other versions of this painting and both images look like two of these versions.

A staging, in gastronomic key, about the text of the ninth act of the <em>Tragicomedy of Calisto and Melibea</em>, by Fernando de Rojas (1499)<br /><br />«The many masses and vespers and processions and devotions have taught me that death only remains well entrenched and still in the glory of the saints. Those of us who have made presto work in this Universal City of Culture, are like the prosperous and wandering spirits. We never end. And when the readers, or something else calls us, we lift our head of a tack, we fit it in its place in our neck and we go and enter at will through the doors. Allah! Celestina is already here, in Salamanca. She again is in the walls of her house.»" (Translated description from the website of the Teatro Nuevo Fernando Arrabal, <a href="https://teatronuevo.com/pollos-tortolas-y-perniles-almuerzo-en-casa-de-la-celestina-edulogic-producciones/">https://teatronuevo.com/pollos-tortolas-y-perniles-almuerzo-en-casa-de-la-celestina-edulogic-producciones/</a>, Archived in: <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20230525023935/https://teatronuevo.com/pollos-tortolas-y-perniles-almuerzo-en-casa-de-la-celestina-edulogic-producciones/">https://web.archive.org/web/20230525023935/https://teatronuevo.com/pollos-tortolas-y-perniles-almuerzo-en-casa-de-la-celestina-edulogic-producciones/</a>)<br /><br /><span>Record of representation in CDAEM, Spanish Theater: </span><a href="https://www.teatro.es/estrenos-teatro/pollos-tortolas-y-perniles-almuerzo-en-casa-de-la-celestina-2332599">https://www.teatro.es/estrenos-teatro/pollos-tortolas-y-perniles-almuerzo-en-casa-de-la-celestina-2332599</a></p>

A trickster, single sheet, by anonymous (1870)
The image shows a woman described as "a new celestina" who appears on top of a well speaking to a group of people who are watching her.<br /><br />Text at the bottom of the image:<br />"A new Celestina,<br />half a witch at least<br />with her lies and traps<br />she scammed an entire town.<br />Standing on top of a well,<br />but yes, it was dry,<br />predicted the future<br />to the children and the old,<br />to the fifteen-year-old girls <br />and to young single men,<br />and she took their money<br />in no time;<br />and one of the group, tired<br /><span>of such cynical captivation</span>,<br />he knocked her down with a push<br />and she did not step on the ground again."

Ladies and students, by Bilbao Martínez (1929)
In the image three young women dressed in regional costumes appear in a park in the city of Seville (Spain). On the left are three young men looking at them. Behind the young women appears an old woman with her head covered reminiscent of Celestina talking to a young man who is looking at one of the young women. The old woman in this painting may represent the procuress of the young women.

Conversation: Ludovic Halévy and Madame Cardinal, by Degas (1880, c.)
The illustration is part of a series of more than 30 monotypes that Degas did for Ludovic Halévy's <em>La Famille Cardinal</em>.<br />Description of the book and illustration:<br />"<span>The satirical stories revolve around two young dancers at the Opéra, Pauline and Virginie Cardinal, and their procuress mother. In late 19th-century Paris, the ballet was the profession of lower-class girls and young women who were available for sexual hire. Here, in the opening scene, Halévy, the first-person narrator, meets with Madame Cardinal in the coulisses (wings) of the Opéra to arrange for a private rendezvous with one of her daughters. The dancers, whose sexual availability is the subtext of the composition, are conspicuously absent.</span>" (Description from <span>The Cleveland Museum of Art: </span><a href="https://www.clevelandart.org/art/1967.167">https://www.clevelandart.org/art/1967.167</a>, A<span>rchived in: </span><a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20220812034734/https://www.clevelandart.org/art/1967.167">https://web.archive.org/web/20220812034734/https://www.clevelandart.org/art/1967.167</a>)

Tales of a Parrot, by Shravana (1560, c.)
The images are pages from the book Tales of a Parrot ("Tuti-nama"), a series of folktales of Persian origin written by Shravana in 1560, c. in Mughal India, court of Akbar.<br />
<p>The first image is from the seventeenth night titled "The old procuress conveys the young man’s message of love to Mansur’s wife." As the title describes, the image shows three figures in a room. In the center appears a young woman accompanied by another woman who acts as her servant. To the right appears an old woman with a club and with her head covered that is reminescent of Celestina. According to the description of the image, a young man becomes obsessed with the beauty and virtue of the merchant Mansur's wife and sends a messenger to profess his love for her when Mansur is away. The woman rejects the young man's proposal and drives the messenger away.</p>
<p>The second image is from the eighth night, titled "The deceitful wife ejects the procuress after blackening her face." In the image, three figures appear on the terrace of a palace, two young women, one being the wife and the other her servant, one of them expelling another woman. According to the description of the image, the lover sends a messenger to the wife to arrange for their <span>rendezvous</span>. The woman pretends to be offended and blackens the face of the messenger and drives her out of her house and throws her to the side of the canal. These actions have a hidden message for her lover, which indicates that their meeting will be at nightfall in that same place.</p>
