Title
Detail of Temptation of Saint Anthony, by Bosch (1501)
Creator
Bosch, Hyeronimus
Date
1501
Description
Fragment of the left panel of the triptych The Temptations of Saint Anthony. Note that this fragment presents various female characters, like the woman crowned with an ecclesiastical hat or the one seen through the window and the one barely glimpsed inside, who can be interpreted as procuresses, as painters who are followers of Bosch have done, such as Teniers.
Complete painting
In other paintings of Bosch there are scenes with constructions that represent in a realistic or fantastic way taverns and brothels with prostitutes and a procuress, although the style of his paintings makes identification difficult.
