The image shows an interior scene where a young woman appears standing next to a table and looking at the viewer. At her feet a dog. A man stands next to the young woman. Two men are sitting at the table looking at the young woman. In front of the men appears an old woman sitting with her head covered with her back to the viewer and looking at the young woman. From the title of the painting it is understood that the old woman acts as a procuress for the young woman and that she is introducing her to her clients.
